Scholarship

Pelham Strong awards scholarships annually to deserving Pelham High School seniors.  Community involvement is one of the main factors in determining the scholarship recipients, and we encourage our local students to work together for good in their neighborhoods.

2024 $1,000 Scholarship Recipient

Jessica Joy Ferguson has been part of the Pelham School system for a long time, and she attended Valley Elementary.  She says the Pelham Community backs each other up and supports each other.  She pointed to the Destiny Strong Foundation which raises money for Childhood Cancer Awareness.  She interns at Pelham Oaks Elementary and Middle School with classes like speech and special needs.  She is also the liaison between the Pelham High School Student Government Association (SGA) and the Pelham Oaks PTO where they have planned many events like breakfast with Santa.  She is an alumni of the Youth Leadership of Shelby County where she participated with a service project collecting donated shoes for children around the world.  She loves community events, and she has partnered with the Pelham Park & Recreation Center with events like Pelham in the Park, United Fun Run, and Kites & Bites. 

2024 $1,000 Scholarship Recipient

Molly Seales is pursuing a career in nursing.  She started the Panther Pals Club at Pelham High School, and this club focuses on integrating special needs students into High School and Community Events.  The club originated with five members, and at the end of April 2024 there were 36 members.  She is part of the class of 2023 Youth Leadership of Shelby County as well as a member of the Student Government Association (SGA).  She also works as a mentor and coach for Pelham Youth Cheerleading.  Her uncle Danny Ray was part of the first graduating class in 1974 who graduated from Pelham High School, and Danny served the City of Pelham as a Fire Chief.  

2023 $1,000 Scholarship Winner

Lydia Norris — She was very involved with various clubs and activities.  She organized a diaper donation drive, which collected 132 pounds of diapers for the Shelby Baptist Association.
